Ten year old Stella Cobbold competes

23 November 2009

Ten year old Stella Cobbold and her new riding pony Christian completed her first show season and has now qualified for the Sydney Royal.

Christian was bought in July and the combination quickly got up to speed. Mother and daughter set off out west and did a run of country NSW shows around Parkes. Despite the threesome breaking down three times in their new truck everyone managed to keep their sense of humour and notched up five open pony hack wins and a few Reserve Champion ribbons too.

Christian won several Champion led classes which qualifies him for breed classes at Sydney. To gain entry into the highly competitive 'open pony hack' ring you must have at least seven open wins at Agricultural shows.

Stella completed her season last weekend at Castle Hill winning the 'child's pony' and then going on to gain 'Reserve Champion Open' large pony hack. She managed a total of nine wins in all.

Christian has gone on holidays now until next year and will come back in for the run up to the Royal. In the meantime Stella will focus on former Royal Show pony Archie who will be attending his first Pony Club Jamboree at the end of November.

Congratulations Stella!
