International Equestrian Conference comes to Centennial Parklands
Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre welcomed the International Society for Equitation Science (ISES) to the Centre on Monday 13 July 2009.
Delegates at the ISES were in Sydney for the three-day Annual General Meeting, and held the practical session at the Equestrian Centre.
"The ISES symposia represent a unique gathering of equitation scientists, industry leaders and policy makers to carve out a road-map for the future of the horse in the human domain," said Dr Paul McGreevy, Chair of the local organising committee.
The event was attended by over 200 conference delegates from all over the world and the organisers very kindly allowed 40 CPEC clients to attend as well. Demonstrations were given by the high profile Australian horsemen and women Brett Parbery, Warwick McLean, Steven Jefferys, Collen Brooke and Georgia Clifford with Dr Andrew McLean facilitating the day.
Delegates were introduced to the new technologies of the rein tension gauge and accelerometers (worn on the horses boots) as well as the use of heart rate monitors - all of which are being used to gather data on the way equestrian riders train horses for participation modern horse sports. Results from this research will assist in improving understanding of the welfare of the horses.
Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre was proud to be selected to host the practical day and the Centre's management team would like to thank all licensees and clients for the way the Centre was presented for the visitors on the day.
