EAC Meeting Summaries
The following meeting summaries are provided following EAC Meetings.
Centennial Park Equestrian Centre Update
The following is a summary of important matters considered by the Equestrian Advisory Committee (EAC) at its meeting on 1 July 2010, together with updates since the meeting.
Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust (CPMPT) Topics
1. Update on Covered Arena
- CPMPT has been investigating this matter and has had input from suppliers with knowledge of irrigation and arena surfaces.
- CPMPT has installed new nozzles on a number of the sprinkler heads of the irrigation system as a first improvement measure.
- Once the irrigation is improved, CPMPT will arrange to increase the material on the Arena surface by an extra 25-45mm (and the Trust has already received a quote for this work to occur).
- Work on the irrigation system commenced after the July School Holidays to minimise disruption.
2. Update on repair work to B and D Pavilion
- Repairs to B and D Pavilions are due to be completed during August 2010, and progress has been impacted by poor weather.
3. Maintenance Program
- CPMPT established a CPEC Maintenance and Services Working Party earlier this year to determine a maintenance priority list and ongoing plan in order to prepare an initial list of work required.
- The Maintenance Plan will be informed by a Condition Assessment Report commissioned by CPMPT.
- CPMPT Park Operations team is leading this work and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
4. Additional Signage at A Arena
- Additional Signage at A Arena is being considered.
- The signage will address the Code of Conduct’s rules and regulations.
5. Lunge Yard Surface
- CPMPT is investigating new surface material for the lunge yard and expects to approve the work in the near future.
6. Additional Mirror for the covered arena
- As requested by EAC Private Client reps, CPMPT is seeking quotes for a second mirror (to be funded by private donations). It is proposed that the mirror will be placed on the eastern (Cook Road) end of the arena to assist with lateral work.
- Email any comments you have on this to the CPEC Office at cpec.office@cp.nsw.gov.au.
7. International Golden Oldies Rugby Tournament
- Centennial Park is the site of the 2010 International Golden Oldies Rugby Tournament on 27, 29 September and 1 October 2010. The Tournament is a major international event being supported by Events NSW.
- On the Event Days, Centennial Park will have some road closures. The Horse Track will also be closed from Café Corner to Loch Ave from Monday 29 September to Friday 1 October (inclusive). Horse riders should also be aware of increased pedestrian activity, especially near the McKay sports fields.
- Information is available on the Centennial Parklands website and updates will be posted there. Emails will be sent out with additional information as it becomes available.
- The EAC also suggested that players at the McKay fields should receive information to be mindful of horses and the Horse Track and CPMPT will request this.
8. Communication
- CPMPT endeavours to keep the CPEC website up to date and CPEC users should refer to that site regularly.
- The CPEC 2010/11 Fees and Charges approved by the Minister for Sport and Recreationare available on the CPEC website.
- Email communication should be addressed to CPEC Office email address: cpec.office@cp.nsw.gov.au.
Private Client Topics Raised
1. Future of Moore Park
- See media release on Centennial Parklands website.
2. Lunge Yard Incident, Saturday 12 June 2010
- CPMPT is treating this matter seriously as it has implications for the safety and security of CPEC users.
- Report on incident to be considered by CPMPT Director & Chief Executive (DCE).
- An Independent Risk/Safety Manager has been engaged to provide additional advice on the best way forward.
- CPMPT response on the day was immediate as a CPEC officer attended within five minutes of being contacted and CPMPT Ranger Security Officers (RSO) arrived within 20mins, having first looked for the youths along Cook Rd, where they had reportedly gone.
- RSOs remained on-site until the police arrived.
- No CPEC users or horses were harmed.
3. Subletting/subleasing of boxes
- Subletting/subleasing is not permitted as set out in the terms and conditions of the Private Clients Booking Form. CPMPT is not considering changing that provision.
4. CPMPT policy on dealing with infections
- As the CPMPT becomes aware of any contagious infections at CPEC it takes action in accordance with the procedures identified by the Department of Industry and Investment NSW. With the recent cases of Ringworm at CPEC, appropriate precautions were taken immediately so the infection was contained. CPEC users who may have been impacted immediately were advised promptly, signage was displayed quickly and subsequently all CPEC patrons were notified by email.
5. Client Survey
- Although the CPMPT Triennial survey does seek responses from CPEC users, CPMPT will consider a more focussed client survey.
6. Construction of speed hump at boom gate
- The speed humps were installed as part of a traffic management report commissioned by CPMPT in 2008/09.
- This is another important safety issue which has now been addressed.
- Almost all recommendations from the traffic management study have been implemented.
7. Liaison with RTA regarding traffic light at the corner of Cook & Lang Roads
- CPMPT has written to RTA previously, and will do so again.
- Increasing the duration of the walk sign and placing a taller pedestrian button on the Federation Way side of Lang Road are priorities.
Next meeting
- The next meeting of the Equestrian Advisory Committee is scheduled for Thursday 2 September 2010.
- If you have nay matters you would like the EAC to consider, please email suggestions to the CPEC Office at cpec.office@cp.nsw.gov.au.
